The Kings of the Hill (KOTH) use the theatric
tradition of drag to blend humor, sex, politics, and music with
character-driven story telling. KOTH's humble beginnings include a
garage, sangria, and a hot summer night in July 2006. Since then
they have produced and performed over a dozen full-length shows at
venues including the St. Lawrence Arts and Community Center,
Portland Performing Arts Center (home of Portland Stage Company),
Geno’s Rock Club, the NorthStar Music Cafe, and One Longfellow
Square. They have also performed in collaboration with other drag
kings, drag queens, burlesque entertainers, and comedians in group
shows around New England and on the main stage for Portland's Pride
in the Park.
Though the Kings would like to believe their good fortune is due to
talent, they know it really is just good lighting. And with that the
Kings would like to give a shout out to professional NYC lighting
designer Jeff Fightmaster who has been involved in nearly all
productions, even the infamous Barbeque Theater garage show. The
Kings would additionally like to acknowledge the contribution of
their girl doppelganger Leslie Downes who has been an intregral part
of numerous shows.
